DevOps Engineer

Xanadu provides services to Matchbook, a sophisticated betting exchange. This uses peer-to-peer betting where customers can choose to either place a bet or take a bet. It’s suitable for all types of bettors from casual punters to professional traders. Matchbook is no ordinary web platform. It has more in common with the New York Stock Exchange than with a bookmaker. It operates at scale. Its API processes over 450 million API requests per day. It manages billions of dollars worth of transactions.

As a DevOps Engineer your mission will be to ensure that our teams deliver products to the very highest level of quality and efficiency, whilst also helping to develop our CI/CD pipeline used by all engineering teams across the business. You will use Agile methodologies to continuously improve. You will work as part of a dedicated team of passionate and talented engineers to continue Matchbook’s mission to become the leading platform globally. You will play an important role in ensuring the highest levels of delivery in the next phase of features and products on the newly built exchange as part of the Matchbook Product Engineering Team.


What will I be doing?

  • Plan and execute the building of automated environments as part of the DevOps Chapter for all Xanadu platforms
  • Provide subject matter expertise in automation and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Design and develop different tools and automation scripts to improve automation support for various activities such as image management, deployment, data analytics, automated testing, logging and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues in our dev, qa, performance and production environments
  • Advise on new technologies and methodologies by becoming an expert in emerging technologies and tools
  • Document solutions and processes as part of execution

What we’re looking for:

  • A passion for automation and related technologies
  • At least 2-3 years experience in a development or DevOps role supporting development teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • Experience of Docker
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using SaltStack, Ansible or an equivalent
  • Prior experience with AWS, Azure, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Java, Python, Groovy, Shell)
  • Familiarity with a broad range of open source technologies, build tools and continuous integration systems (i.e. Jenkins, Maven, Nexus)
  • Experience in monitoring and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
  • Organised, good attention to details, and able to work both independently and with a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Eligibility to live and work in the EU.
